Photo via @TennisChannelPR.Four-time U.S. Open champion Martina Navratilova received yet another standing ovation at the tournament this weekend, but this time, it wasn't for winning a tennis match. The 57-year-old surprised her girlfriend, Julia Lemigova, with a proposal in the Tennis Channel suite.
Lemigova said yes in front of thousands of people watching on the big screens at Arthur Ashe Stadium in Queens.
"I was very nervous," Navratilova said to the Associated Press. "It came off. She said yes. It was kind of an out-of-body experience. You've seen people propose at sporting events before, in movies, in real life. Here it was happening to me. It was like I was watching myself do it."
Navratilova — who also holds 18 grand slam titles throughout her career — has been with her girlfriend since 2006. Congratulations to the happy couple! (Huffpo)
