Janelle Monáe Gets An Electric (Lady) Liner Update

Janelle Monáe is one of those stars who's locked down a signature look: black eyeliner, red lipstick, and a sky-high quiff. But, while we think it works so well for her, that doesn't mean we're not excited to see her shake things up. And, she did just that at an event this week in NYC, when the singer paired an electric-blue liner with her red pout for a look that left us instantly smitten.

Our favorite part about Monáe's makeup is how it packs a punch without being overpowering. Since red and blue are primary colors, they actually pair quite beautifully. Add to that the fact that Monáe's lips are matte and her liner has a shimmery sheen, and her whole look is a home run.

First, Lupita Nyong'o sported it, and now Monáe. Seems like electric blue is well on its way to becoming the official makeup color of summer.
