BANKS Makes Narcissism Stylish In New Video

Los Angeles-bred BANKS recently teamed up with i-D to advance her broody, witchy aesthetic. In a new video from the publication's Chart series, director Mike Piscitelli takes a song from BANKS' forthcoming album, Goddess, and gives it life. The track is called "Drowning," and the video is hypnotic enough to, well, drown in.
Set in one of those Kusama-inspired infinity rooms, BANKS writhes around and does her smoldering thing before the camera. The mirrors and smart Lorde-like suit-and-crop-top combo give the video a polished fashion element, and fashion means drama, obviously.
This video marks the third installment of i-D's style-meets-music series. Previously, the site worked with M.I.A. on her "Y.A.L.A." video and Angel Haze's "A Tribe Called Red." This latest one is decidedly the most straightforward of the bunch, but it's in no way less dynamic. It sets the stage for Goddess' September release; a stage that's as mysterious as it is alluring. Keep an eye out for whatever spells are up her sleeve, folks — they're sure to be enchanting. (i-D)
