This Anti-Bullying PSA Seems A Little Off

If there's one thing we can get behind, it's a PSA that discourages bullying. That said, VH1's new anti-bullying video managed to rub us the wrong way, ever so slightly. (And, no, it's not just because it's titled "Revenge of the Nerds.")
Taking a humorous approach to the problem, the video shows stereotypically nerdy students being tortured by their mean classmates. You can tell who the "nerds" are because they're all wearing glasses and have bad hair. (Highly original.) As each poor kid is dunked into a toilet or set on fire, they sing their own version of Gloria Gaynor's "I Will Survive."
We can understand the motive — giving bullied kids confidence, helping them understand that they will not always live in the shadow of their tormenters. But, honestly, the message here seems a little too pragmatic for its own good. The video isn't saying kids should stop bullying because it's, you know, cruel and wrong. Rather, you should stop bullying because one day that kid you're giving a wedgie will grow up to become your boss, who will call you on the weekend and generally make your life a living hell. (Is it just us, or does that seem to validate bullying? Wouldn't you want to pick on someone who's going to pick on you later?)
So, yeah. Bullies suck. Evil bosses also suck. But, two wrongs don't make a right, kids. (Mashable)
