It solves all the problems of layering a collared shirt with another top without all the bulkiness of stuffing one sleeve into another. But, during last night's concert in London, Lily Allen wore a style that had a flashy less-layered purpose than the typical work-friendly non-shirt. The songstress looked stunning in a version of a crystal-embellished dickey, which is a part of her whisper-thin tank top.
For the more conservative, Allen's look may be a bit shocking — yes, she's pretty much nude on top. But, for the more bold among us, it was one heck of a use of gem stones. After all, who needs a statement necklace when you're wearing a statement chest piece? While some may argue that her attire would be better if layered with something a little solid, Lily's look is quite impressive nonetheless. Just ask anyone who's even tried to secure herself into a slinky dress with a piece of double-sided tape.
We have a lot of respect for any woman who can take fashion to extremes. And, we have even more for someone who can balance these boundary-pushing designs without flashing piles of messy of Fashion Tape. It's sartorial know-how and chutzpah at its best.
