We usually listen to music at our desks. And, we usually bop our heads along to the beat. And, that beat is usually Iggy Azalea's addictive pop hit "Fancy." The song echoes the rapper's true-to-life "Fancy" lifestyle — one that includes walking the red carpet dressed in designer clothing from Elie Saab to Emilio Pucci. But, this hasn't always been the case for the songstress. In fact, she's had to willfully hustle (and still does!) to get the attention of top brands.
In an interview with The New York Times, Azalea talked about how she's become something of an It Girl among luxury labels — even before her album drops in mid-April. “I know how to play the game and get what I want," she explained. So, just how does she do it? In part by wearing clothing that appeals to that brand's aesthetic. Case in point: Chloé. Iggy went to the label's Fashion Week show dressed head-to-toe in a demure Chloé ensemble. And, she picked the outfit on purpose because she wanted "to appease Chloé, because I would like some Chloé, I’m going to do my best job to be Chloé.” Get it girl!
Her stylist, Jason Rembert, is also appealing to top fashion houses to consider dressing the rising star. One such designer, Elie Saab, dressed Iggy for this year's Grammys. Wearing the label on the red carpet was something of an "I've made it" moment for Azalea. "That was a major aspiration of mine for a long time, to get an Elie Saab dress," she told the Times.
Kids, there's a lesson here: Dreams can come true — you just have to work for it. (The New York Times)
