Holy Synergy ! Jem And The Holograms Is Coming To The Silver Screen

Calling all scenesters who only know of Jem and the Holograms from Tumblr: now's your chance to make famous a cartoon made famous before you were even conceived. The guy behind the Justin Bieber documentaries is joining forces with Bieber's manager, Scooter Braun — along with the fella who helped make Paranormal Activity — to bring the '80s classic to life. If that doesn't sound like a meeting of the pop culture minds, we don't know what is.

Anyway, the live-action flick is still just a wee zygote by Tinseltown standards, but you can help it grow, thrive, and prosper. Though popular opinion would lead you to believe that a Jem movie will develop from the lightest of magical earring caresses, it does not.

The O.G. Hannah Montana tale of Jerrica Benton (a.k.a. Jem), a music industry mogul by day/Liquid Sky -poster girl and band leader by night, needs your help in coming to life. Everything from Jem and the Holograms costumes to who's going to actually star in their adventures will be, as noted in the video below, crowd-sourced. (It's like a Kickstarter campaign only with more glitter.) Considering other recent successful Kickstarters — like Veronica Mars, which skyrocketed into oblivion — this Jem one holds promise, and we now have a fully-fleshed out flick to gaze upon.
