Designers Don't Want To Lend Miley Cyrus Clothes, Apparently

You'd never know it from her Marc Jacobs campaign gig or her major covers for the likes of W, but is Miley Cyrus experiencing a backlash from the fashion community? Jacobs himself admitted that longtime collaborator Juergen Teller declined to photograph the provocative pop star. Now, Love editor-in-chief Katie Grand says that many designers were reluctant to loan out clothes for Cyrus to wear during her cover shoot for the magazine's spring/summer '14 issue. Maybe this explains why she's hardly ever wearing anything?

“At first I wasn’t sure about Miley," Grand writes. "A lot of people aren’t. It was tricky to borrow clothes for the shoot because she seems to divide opinion in a Marmite-esque way. Many people I respect didn’t want to get involved. They thought there was something superficial about her — dangerous, even.”

Of course, it's hard to complain too much when Roberto Cavalli is designing your tour costumes and you've been stepping out in Margiela and Markus Lupfer. Cyrus is a polarizing figure, but if big labels won't come to her, she should use this as opportunity to celebrate more adventurous brands and young designers. After all, it worked for Gaga.
