How I Met Your Mother is among the many, many major network sitcoms drawing to a close in 2014, despite its enduring popularity. It's lasted nine seasons, which is longer than almost any other comedy on TV. (Ironically, its final season is actually achieving some of its highest ratings.) When its final run was announced last year, HIMYM fans suspected something else was in the works. It turns out, their hunch was absolutely dead-on: How I Met Your Dad is a real thing, it's being developed by HIMYM's creators as we speak.

Here's what we know about the casting for HIMYD: A conflicted twentysomething named Sally will be front and center. Described as "vibrant, messy, and unpredictable" and "a female Peter Pan who has never grown up and has no idea of where she’s going in life." Ah yes. The mighty Girls doppler effect makes strategic waves yet again. Turns out Sally is thinking of splitting with her husband of a year, Gavin. But no worries: her effervescent sidekicks will see her through. They include her older gay brother Danny, his husband Todd, and Juliet, an over-the-top fashion blogger who we can already tell will inspire a million "queen bee" Tumblr GIFs. (Just wait.) (TVLine)
