We've seen Michael Kors outfits kill it on the red carpet before. But, leave it to Meryl Streep to do it in one of the most unexpected ways — with a sweatshirt. While other Hollywood heavyweights like Julia Roberts, Sandra Bullock, and Amy Adams showed up to the Palm Springs International Film Festival in fancy frocks, Streep stepped out in a cozy Michael Kors knit. It was splashed with sparkle, of course.

The actress paired her top with slightly slouchy trousers, black pumps, a chain-strap clutch, and thin, wired eye frames. And, perhaps she didn't choose to come as decked out as her fellow actresses, but we'll argue she looked as elegant as ever. After all, it's the lady after our own hearts who goes with her gut and chooses an unexpected (and comfortable) look, even if everyone else is dressed to the nines.
