Dakota Johnson Dons The September Issue Dress For LACMA

This year's crop of September issues might not have wielded the strongest of reactions in readers, but, thankfully, its influence is still being felt two months later. Case in point: Dakota Johnson's little Gucci number at LACMA's Art + Film Gala.

The Fifty Shades star slipped herself into a sheer, feathery dress — the same one Kate Upton and Sarah Jessica Parker wore for, respectively, the September issues of Elle and Harper's Bazaar. To her accord, Johnson let the dress speak for itself. Simple gold rings and slim earrings topped off the over-the-top number. Where SJP brought a twinge of Carrie Bradshaw charm to the dress, Johnson brought an air of darkness to it. Any Fifty Shades doubters probably have their fists in their mouths now. She made an S&M-constructed outfit feel as elegant as a proper ball gown. It's cheeky, yes, but with a little bite in it. Her inner goddess was in full-blown show-off mode, and boy, it's more polished than we expected.
