Gold iPhone 5S Called The "Kardashian Phone" At Apple

Interpret this as you wish. The New York Times' Nick Bilton tweeted on Friday that while the gold iPhone 5S was in development, Apple engineers gave it a nickname: "The Kardashian Phone." Was this an honorific, given out of deference to the Kardashian family's royal status in the reality-TV celebrity sphere? Was it in reference to Kim's Moroccanoil®-lustered hair? Or perhaps her very own Gold by Kim Kardashian fragrance?

Just as we still don't know how many licks it takes to get to the Tootsie Roll center of a Tootsie Pop, the world may never know the provenance of this pet name. We do know, however, that Kim most certainly wasn't showing off a 5S before it was released. We can also expect that the whole Kardashian family will be proudly rocking the phones after this revelation. (CNET)
