You and your BFFF (that's "Best Fashion Friend Forever") have a very special relationship. She's one of the few people you'd trust to give an honest assessment of how your derriere looks in a peplum skirt, trust to co-own multiple "joint custody" pieces, and lend that huge splurge (because you know she'll let you borrow her Prada boots one day). However, your relationship is nothing compared to Anna Dello Russo and Giovanna Battaglia's.
A new series, hosted by Moda Operandi and St. Regis Hotels & Resorts, asks fashion folks to describe "The One That Got Away" — to wax nostalgic about the one dress that they missed out on and the kind of sartorial heartbreaks that only the truest fashion fanatics — hello friends! — know of. When asked by Battaglia, Dello Russo responded, "It hasn't happened to me. I miss [out on] so many boyfriends, but not outfits."
She goes onto joke about her guiding principles when it comes to putting together her daily outfits, and Battaglia occasionally chimes to in to endearingly finish Dello Russo's thoughts: "For me, I have to look expensive. I need $50,000 [for] each outfit a day." And, where do these $50k outfits come from? Well, some are directly from Battaglia's shopping bags.
