Taylor Momsen Probably Won’t Twerk. Sorry, Everyone

Taylor Momsen will still shock you, though not by wagging her rump at the masses, or even with that signature raccoon-esque eyeliner, but because, lo and behold, little Jenny Humphrey is all grown up. The starlet has long left her Gossip Girl days behind to become a real deal rock-'n-roller, so when we ran into her at Alice & Olivia's spring presentation, we had to inquire about growing up in the spotlight — and what happens when a former child star feels a little, erm...rebellious. (Her first suggestion: Switch it up, which is why she left the heavy liner at home.)

You’re used to making provocative music. What do you think of people who are a little younger than you, like Miley Cyrus, using their sexuality to promote their music?

“I think that fashion is always a part of music; they’ve gone hand-in-hand since the beginning of time. I think to each her own, but of course the music has to come first.”

What are you working on now?

“Well, we just finished our record. It’s called Going To Hell. The first single of the same name comes out September 24th, and we start our North American tour on the 20th! We’re all really excited about that. We’ll be back on the road for what seems like forever, until the next record.”

Do you like being on the road?

“I love it.”

You’re typically seen in über-dark eye makeup. Why did you nix that tonight?

“Well, it’s Fashion Week. I wanted to switch things up. It’s not gone forever.”

Can you tell us your secret eyeliner tips?

“I don’t use eyeliner! I use eye shadow — it’s all shadow.”
