While the newest video from Saint Laurent is inherently childlike, with hula-hoop twirling and baby-doll dresses flowing in one carefree ballet, there's a serious dose of Hedi Slimane edge fused into the film. Introducing the brand's new ballerina flats, the black-and-white video is a minute and a half of graceful movement by model Gracie Van Gastel (that's a coincidence, we're sure), who uses the hoop more as a dance partner and less as a toy — spinning it around herself but not exactly in a hula dancer sort of way.
While our attention is mostly fixed on the slow, slinky movements and soothing song by Clementine Creevy of Cherry Glazerr, it's the double-strapped flats that are most difficult to ignore. As a new addition from the Saint Laurent creative director, the Mary Jane-like styles will debut in November for $395 per pair. Go on and watch as the music, the movement, and, yes, the shoes practically hypnotize you in the Slimane-directed video below.
