Okay, readers, we've officially seen it all. We know that social media is a huge part of our daily lives. And, we'll admit to being totally addicted to Facebook, Twitter, and everything else. But, the new trend of social-media hotels cropping up across the globe might just be a little too much, even for us. The newest addition is the 1888 Hotel in Sydney, which is an Instagram-themed abode.
The entire space is built to cater to the app's users, and it's all truly over the top. The hotel's interior design is meant to be optimum 'gram-worthy decor, the lobby boasts a huge digital mural of Insta-shots, and there's even a room specially dedicated to selfies for guests who are checking in. In addition, the hotel conducts a monthly Instagram contest, with the guest with the best picture of the space winning a free night's stay. Even better, guests who have 10,000 followers or more are instantly awarded a free night.
While we initially balked at the idea of an entire hotel dedicated to Instagram, CEO Paul Fishman said the resort is simply meant to accommodate to guests' needs. Today's travelers can become obsessed with documenting their entire trip and finding that perfect 'gram-able shot, so 1888 simply makes it all easier for them. We're still a little unsure, but we certainly wouldn't turn down a chance to compete in an international like-off. (PSFK)
