Zooey Deschanel is on the September cover of Marie Claire looking like the grungy angel fairy of our dreams. It's unclear whether we want to be her or just spend eternity staring into those enormous eyeballs. Either way, the fact that Marie Claire has released the beauty inspiration behind the shoot is currently filling our Monday with joy.

Makeup artist Jeanine Lobell says, "I think of Zooey as pretty and cute, but the fashion had a '90s grunge feel, so I thought we should edge it up." We've been on the hunt for the best way to balance out our own suddenly '90s-drenched outfits, so this couldn't have come at a better time.
