Drop That Cronut & Grab An Ice Cream Donut!

With the whole cronut craze sweeping the nation, it may have been a while since you've had a classic donut — but don't go reaching for that old faithful just yet. Firecakes Donuts in River North now offers ice-cream donuts (you read that right!) Wednesday through Saturday for $4 a pop. Chef Jonathan Fox takes glazed, square donuts and stuffs them sandwich style with homemade vanilla bean ice cream — seriously, who wants a cone now?

But, when you're in the mood for just a little something to go with your coffee in the morning (or an entire box to surprise your co-workers), there are plenty of amazing options ranging from maple-glazed pineapple and bacon to — the latest addition — banana nut with goat cheese frosting. Don't worry about the calories, folks. It'll be sweater season soon enough.
