Every month, we eagerly dive into our favorite magazines searching for thought-provoking features, beautiful photography, and tons of style inspiration. But these past steamy summer months have been a bit different — and we're not just taking about moving our reading sesh to the beach.
While most glossy photos have made visions of fall RTW dance in our heads, not every look has been easy to love. Hey, we'll gladly try most new style tricks once (the clashing prints, the half-tucked top, the skirt-over-pants combo — we're on board!), but we'll politely pass on these 10 implicit style lessons that this summer's magazines have taught us. Click ahead to see where things went weird.

Mascara, man. It'll creep up on you. Especially in the muggiest months of summer. Invest in the waterproof variety, and be sure you have an honest friend tell you when you've got a little schmutz on your face.

It's 99 degrees out, the UV index is five million, and it's so muggy our eyebrows are curling. So, whaddya say we go don black woolen widow's garments and stand directly in the sun? Perfect.
