How Some Celebs Turn The Oscars Into A Huge Pay Day, While Others Can’t

Try as we might to convince ourselves that celebs are just like us (David Beckham tweets! Katie Holmes wears Kohl's!), we all know that nothing is as it seems in Lala Land. And, with the Oscars just days away, the secret lives of the rich and famous are coming to light — and it's not just Jennifer Lawrence who gets special treatment.
In 2011, it seems Tiffany & Co. dropped a whopping $750,000 on Anne Hathaway just so she'd wear the company's gems with her Valentino gown. And get this: That same year, Louis Vuitton shelled out $500,000 when Gwyneth Paltrow wore the brand's jewels on stage. Of course, the news of celebs being paid to parade around in gorgeous get-ups isn't breaking news, but what's somewhat heartbreaking is that the actress with less audience appeal (a.k.a. not so young and thin) won't have the same opportunities as these ideal A-listers, oftentimes giving the dressmaker or jewelry designer they've chosen free publicity. So, as the sample-sized gals get lofty checks at evening's end, most women on that carpet won't be considering Sunday a pay day at all.

It's a sad truth in Tinseltown, but no matter what, good taste conquers all — and that means everyone has a fair shake at the best-dressed list. (Huff Post Style)
