Zooey Deschanel's brand of quirk has always been a subject of heated debate at R29 HQ. Between the New Girl's affinity for nail art and natural ability to make hearts melt via YouTube videos, it's no wonder we're always curious (and occasionally confused) by the actress' antics.
Well, when we spotted her at Gelson’s market in L.A., we couldn't help but LOL. Is the Hellogiggles co-founder sporting tiny hats over her ears for her own site's style of laughs? Or, are the earmuffs fashioned to look like miniature cakes just to be cute? The latter would be quite fitting, since the star was spotted roaming shop aisles as she toted the cookbook "Baked Elements: Our 10 Favorite Ingredients."

Clad in her signature opaque tights and a brightly hued coat, there was no mistaking the raven-haired celeb and her whimsical wardrobe. But, we're still scratching our heads over this WTF winter accessory — your guess as to what exactly those earmuffs are is as good as ours! In the meantime, we're scoping her cart to see if she whipped up the Oatmeal Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Scones or the Turtle Thumbprint Cookies. (Just Jared)
