Condé Nast Hires First Ever African-American EIC

This has not been a great month for racial diversity in fashion: First, we got a handful of eye-opening statistics, and then, this happened. But now, things are looking up! Condé Nast (oh, you know, the publisher of Vogue, W, and GQ, among others), just hired its first-ever black editor-in-chief. Keija Minor will take the wheel at Brides, which has been a chicken (in a wedding dress) without a head for a while now.
Minor's climb to the top is thanks to a promotion from within. She's was previously the bridal monthly's executive editor. While this is a proud moment for Condé and for fashion journalism in general, there's no guarantee that staff diversity will lead to the printed variety. Still, we're hoping for the best, and since Brides is one of the company's more service-oriented titles, this is a great place to start! (Fashionista)
