Thought you were the first one, Kirsten Dunst? You thought wrong. Manic Pixie Dream Girls, aka indie darlings with bangs and commitment issues that eventually allow their leading men to realize their real-life dreams, have been around for a long time. This revelatory article covers the epidemic from Annie Hall ("patient zero") to the newest installment, Ruby Sparks (played by Zoe Kazan in the eponymous film).
