Lena Dunham
Dunham, 25, started making short films while in college at Oberlin. Her first feature, Creative Nonfiction, premiered at the 2009 SXSW festival, and the next year, her second film, Tiny Furniture, won two of the festival’s most coveted awards: Best Narrative Feature and the unfortunately named, Emergent Narrative Women Director award.

Self-Deprecating Autobiographical Role: Aura in Tiny Furniture, a movie in which the real-life post-collegiate plays a big-screen post-collegiate alongside her real-life mom and sister.

Hollywood Fairy Godmother: Judd Apatow

Upcoming: HBO Dramedy “Girls” premieres on April 15 at 10:30 p.m.

Awkward Trademark: Taking her pants off on camera.

Extra Credit: The hilarious web series “Delusional Downtown Divas.”

The Takeaway: Girls can be lovable slacker misanthropes, too.
