With Streets For A Gallery, Graffiti Art Tour Travels By Bike

There's no doubt – graffiti is art. But, unlike, say, the works of the Dutch masters, the best examples of Miami's popular street artists aren't presented in a comfortable gallery setting. There are no docents, tour guides, and info plaques peppering you with facts about the artists, cultural context, and all the little extras that could help you better appreciate these often beautiful combinations of Krylon and concrete. Well, the Miami Art Museum's second annual "Graffiti by Bike" Art Crawl is changing it up, offering a curated street art tour with a healthy workout to boot. On Saturday, February 11, a peloton of art lovers will course through Wynwood with a clutch of curators and graffiti experts leading the convoy, pausing at the city's most electric murals. Lasting four hours (that's a lot of calories, btw), the tour comes with complimentary bike loans (if you don't bring your own) and ends at Wood Tavern for deserved drinks and bites. Just try to squeeze that amount of exercising, socializing, and art appreciating into your next art walk – not happening.
