Casa San Agustin (Cartagena)

Cartagena is fast becoming the chic destination of choice, and this 30-room boutique hotel is the place to stay there. Inside the city’s Old Town (which is enclosed by an ancient, seven-mile long wall that is itself a UNESCO World Heritage Site), Casa San Agustin was once three colonial homes that have been renovated and united without losing their Colombian-vibe: fresco-lined walls, dark wood beams, and an ancient aqueduct that cuts through the hotel’s pool area and open-air courtyard, where coastal Colombian cuisine (trout, octopus, and shimp ceviche, anyone?) is served at the restaurant Alma. The bedrooms’ blue, green, and beige color palettes take their cue from the Caribbean, which guests can see from the rooftop solarium or tour by yacht if they take a day trip to Islas de Rosario.

Casa San Agustin, Calle de la Universidad No. 36-44.
