Weird Science: Study Says Botox Can Deaden Empathy
Like it or not, L.A. is known as the plastic surgery capital of the states, but it looks like there is one more reason to skip the injections: According to an article in USA Today
can dull your ability to understand the emotions of others. A scientific study published in the journal Social Psychology and Personality Science suggests that part of the way we are able to read others’ emotions is my mimicking their facial expressions, and if facial muscles are frozen or paralyzed by injections like Botox or Restylane, you are then less-able to identify emotion on others, and can even affect your ability to relate emotionally to them. Call us crazy, but we’d take empathy over wrinkles any day of the week.
