Ethereal, whimsical, and romantic: Bridal beauty trends take timeless aesthetics and mix in references to the latest season's runways. Adding a low-maintenance, free-spirited play to the traditional bridal polish, the most recent trends focus on barely-there makeup and easy, undone hairstyles.
This Bridal Fashion Week, the makeup was about defined lines and gorgeous complexions, focusing on fresh-faced skin, highlights, contours, and soft eyeshadows. Effortless hairstyles topped it off. From deconstructed updos to loose waves, bridal hair is taking a step back from coiffed and polished, showcasing the elegance in simplicity. Here, Glamsquad's Kelli and Giovanni share their top three beauty trends from the recent shows.

Ladylike Eyes
This look is soft yet strong with a decidedly intense eye. Dark shadow is heavier on the outside of the eye, placed close to the lashline, and buffed past the natural eye line to create a feline appearance. Monique Lhuillier featured a ballerina beauty look, showcasing light on the inner tear duct and fading to dark on the outer eye. The cheek and lip were infused with muted rose tones to balance the smoldering eye. Badgley Mischka and Austin Scarlett also showed this trend, using shades of chocolate, soot, and charcoal to create a feline intensity around the outer half of the eye.

Flush Of Color
This trend is all about coordinating lips and cheeks. It's a monochromatic look that focuses on soft washes of similar tones. Hues on the cheeks should be executed with delicate brush strokes and expert shading to create a natural, flushed, and rouged appearance. Don't be afraid to go bold as long as the blush is brilliantly blended. The lip color in this trend ranges from matte to glossy and is supremely sophisticated in undertones of red and plum. This statement lip and cheek coordination was seen at Reem Acra, Marchesa, Carolina Herrera, and Naeem Khan.

Barely-There Beauty
The barely-there beauty look accentuates the skin, cheekbones, and overall structure of the face. Contouring where needed in neutral, natural tones and paying attention to face shape is crucial. Add depth to the skin using technology-driven highlights created with creams, glosses, liquids, and shimmery powders. The overall look is elegant and flawless. Christos, Temperley London, and Kenneth Pool showed this exquisite, minimalist beauty look.

Deconstructed Updos
The days of polished and coiffed updos are fading as undone hairstyles are taking center stage. Sweeping chignons and wispy buns with pieces left out have a dreamy and whimsical appeal. The texture adds a fullness and richness to the entire look. Complementing lace-embellished gowns, the hair at Inis Di Santo was a loose and messy, featuring twists, pins, and several face-framing strands left out in the front. Seen on several other runways, this look is disheveled in a way that appears both dreamy and totally luxe.

Simply Pulled Back
This look is entirely low-maintenance, encouraging a focus on the face and the dress. The hair has no defined part and is loosely pulled back into a bun in the middle back of the head, creating a style that's simple yet sophisticated. Kenneth Pool, Anna Maier, and Christos all featured this versatile style. Unlike the traditional sleek and tightly pulled-back style, the loosely positioned updo will last all night, with flyaway pieces only adding to its appeal.

Soft, Simple Strands
Whether straight with a touch of movement or subtle waves, hair worn simply down the back made its mark on the recent bridal runways. Glamorous bombshell curls and defined retro waves were replaced by more natural and low-maintenance styles. The focus was on the center part with a few looks showing slight side-swept strands. Bigger, looser, and less structured waves make the look less glossy and glamorous and more effortlessly romantic. Angel Sanchez showed a center-part, slicked back on top with loose, natural waves down the back, while Austin Scarlett went with slightly more polished versions.
