Flowers Are Nice, But These Sweet Floral Bras Are So Better

wenvrsleep-embedWe've had our eye on indie, Philly-based brand We Never Sleep since we first spotted designer Sarah Beaver's fresh, colorful take on statement jewels. For spring '12, Beaver has taken the line in a whole new direction, with an array of abstract-floral hairpins and hand-painted, silk bras.

The tiny barrettes are intricately pieced together with semi-precious beads. The effect is a like a watercolored, wearable fine-art painting. The hairpieces’ floral inspirations are labeled — orchids and night-blooming cactus are represented — but we don’t really need to know that it’s a leaf-flanked bromeliad to know that these barrettes are flora-gorgeous.

For the delicates, Beaver used midcentury silk bras and French silk paint to decorate meant-to-be-seen delicates. The effect ranges from earthy and mossy to bright and floral. We’re sticking with We Never Sleep this summer because, though our handmade floral crowns may eventually wilt, these pretty barrettes and bras are eternally awesome.
