The Perfect Summer Bauble: A Richmond-Made Coral Creation

academyslide Want to know our favorite thing about shopping local? Getting to know the seriously cool folks who make the seriously cool products we love. We were lucky enough to meet Richmond jewelry designer Rachel Albright (you'll know her as the longtime face of Need Supply Co.) recently and learn that her handmade line of coral necklaces was picked up by Anthropologie. Talk about hitting it big, right? You can shop the pretty painted wares (which were just marked down to $29.95 from $48) online right now. We highly recommend snapping up one (or one in each color, if you're game) and making it your summer statement gem.

Dipped Sessile Necklace, $29.95, available at Anthropologie.

Can't Book A Parisian Vacay? Get The Next Best Thing In Georgetown

picture_12slide

With flights to Paris costing close to a month’s rent (and that's if you've planned ahead), we’re dreaming of making some French connections without having to dip into our savings. Thankfully, Georgetown’s annual French Market, which turns a walk down Wisconsin Avenue into a stroll along the Seine, kicks off today — just in time to relieve our wanderlust woes. With neighborhood shops taking up to 70% off everything from designer duds to collectible art, antiques, and home goods, this two-day fest is très magnifique. We won't judge you if you start the day with a café au lait, break for some quiche and Camembert at Book Hill Park, and end the evening with a few glasses of red wine — in fact, we'd expect nothing less.

When: Today, April 27, and Saturday, April 28, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Where: Upper Wisconsin Avenue NW, between P Street and Reservoir Road.

Grab Your Best-Dressed Fellas For This Rad Baltimore Pop-Up

fischer-clothingslide Should D.C. seem suspiciously devoid of sharp-dressed men on Saturday, don't freak out — they've just all decamped north to Baltimore for the day. What's the motivation behind this bro migration? Confirmed Stock, a one-day menswear pop-up market offering expertly curated wares for gentlemen, both vintage and new, from a variety of vendors.

Beloved shops like Boston's Ball and Buck and Minneapolis' Greenwich Vintage will bring their best merch to set up shop next to brands like Baltimore's own Almanac Industries. The result? A one-time chance for your male compatriots to scoop some rad clothing, accessories, shoes, and everything else they might need to be properly outfitted.

While the pop-up is first and foremost about fashion, the message behind it is a bit more esoteric. "Confirmed Stock is really about giving men a chance to not only buy great stuff, but also make more mindful decisions about how they spend their money," says event organizer Neal Shaffer. Focusing on vintage, salvaged, and handmade-in-America goods, the style-savvy vendors are "people you can buy from and feel good about where your money is going." Now, who's up for a road trip?

When: Saturday, April 28, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Where: 2640 Space, 2640 St. Paul Street, Baltimore.

Sort Out Your Entire Summer (Sartorially, Anyway) At This Sample Sale

Sip&Sampleslide One thing we love about our city: While we don't have legit sample sales as often as NYC and LA, the ones we do have are always so much more than just a sale. We're talking discounted designer goods paired with delish cocktails and tasty bites from places like Café Milano and Neyla. And the first annual Georgetown Sip & Sample Sale, which takes place next week, promises to be no different.

We've scored many a great find over the years at the District Sample Sale, so we’re excited to have another big boutique event to pencil into our planners. This go-round, expect baubles from Charm Georgetown and Queen Bee Designs (the two owners organized the event), prepster must-haves from Sherman Pickey and Pink Palm, and party-ready frocks from Wink, Urban Chic, Ginger, and Julia Farr.

Remember, the early bird gets the cheapest worm, so consider investing in the $50 VIP ticket for access to the goods two hours ahead of everyone else. Don’t feel like splurging? Regular entry is $25, and we feel confident that you’ll still find a perfect dress for a summer wedding or a no-fail Mother’s Day gift. At the very least, you'll get your money's worth of boozy confections from ARTini-winning mixologist Joseph Ambrose.

When: Wednesday, April 18. VIP admission from 3 to 9 p.m; general admission from 5 to 9 p.m. Buy tickets here.
Where: Letelier Theater Upper Courtyard, located behind Cafe Milano, 3251 Prospect Street NW.

Today Only: Snag Wren, IRO, Missoni, & More At This Killer Sample Sale

style-etoileslide The early bird gets the best designer steals, and we've got a very good reason for you to skip that leisurely brunch today and head to Rockville: Style Étoile's spring sample sale and meet-and-greet. We're coveting the Camilla & Marc dresses, Sachin + Babi jewelry, and Wren rompers, so that's motivation aplenty right there — but even better, loads of the shop's designer goods will be marked down 85%, in case you need a little additional motivation to put a spring in your step.

Even better? This isn’t the kind of dog-eat-dog sale where you push your way in, fight for your prized item, and leave with your dignity barely intact. Instead, there will be cocktails and convo with shop owners Christina and Natalie Albina, and you'll also get to meet local designer Marti and preview her new collection. So, step away from your laptop and go get your shop on.

When: Today, March 31, from 10 a.m to 6 p.m.
Where: Style Étoile, 1701 Rockville Pike, Rockville; 301-770-4218.
