Shop It NowThis D.C. Designer's Newest Offerings Have Us Swooning
Nothing makes us happier than a "local gal makes good" story, and Rochelle Behrens' bio is exactly that. The D.C. native launched a company based around the concept of a properly fitted shirt for professional women — one that doesn't gap between buttons and expose your bra — and soon landed her product, simply called The Shirt, on Oprah, The Today Show, and in The New York Times, Glamour, and People. Pretty savvy, right?
So, we're stoked to give you an exclusive peek at the brand's new collection of blouses that go way beyond the workplace. With a color inspired by L.A. at sunset and 10 silhouettes that pair easily with trousers, pencil skirts, and more, the collection builds on Behrens' vision of a confident yet fashion-conscious working woman. “When we design, we innately consider how a woman is going to live in our clothes," Behrens says. "From button placement to how it skims the body, to subtle details and special fabrics, we really innovate for a woman who loves luxury and appreciates fit." This Spring Lookbook Is One Picture-Perfect Picnic
What do you get when you combine The Secret Garden with Alice's tea party and a dress-up playdate? In short: the lookbook of our dreams. The vintage pros (and stylish bloggers) behind La Petite Marmoset have released yet another obsession-worthy lookbook, this time featuring their May collection of reworked vintage pieces. The ethereal images (shot at Green Spring Gardens in Alexandria) show off a treasure trove of bohemian-chic pieces — think tons of pastels and florals, perfect for dinner under the stars or a summer poolside BBQ.
With all the lust-worthy fishtail skirts, flirty bandeau tops, and intricate jewelry, it's hard not to make mental notes for our own wardrobes as we soak up the early summer vibe of this lookbook — plus, the dreamy snaps by photog Amber Mahoney are practically begging to be pinned. This WW Club Event Is Totally Worth It (Hint: Booze & Boys Involved)

As if we haven’t given you enough reasons to hit the Water Street Project already, stylist Elise Peterson (resident pro at It's Vintage Darling) and photographer Kate Warren have now teamed up to host The WW Club, a menswear party featuring whiskey, a burlesque performance, and cool duds from some of our favorite local outposts. Bring your fella of choice along for a stylish excursion he'll actually enjoy; if you're single, keep an eye out for your own Jay Gatsby (we’re hoping for the Leo DiCaprio variety) clad in pinstripes and cufflinks. A $10 ticket gets you into the so-called "style speakeasy" to sample a variety of whiskeys, swoon over a naughty-but-nice performance by Cherrie Sweetbottom, and get one-on-one style advice from the gurus at Federal, Alton Lane, and Dr. K's Vintage. We can't think of a more perfect opportunity to party like it’s Prohibition. When: Thursday, April 26, from 7 to 10 p.m.
Where: 3401 Water Street NW.

Crush-worthy: The New Homegrown Designs We're Dying To Wear
We love when a young designer's lookbook wows us so thoroughly that we instantly covet every item in the collection. Wanna know what we love even more? When that aforementioned young designer is local. That's the case with Miri designer Mera Anwar, who we first spotted at our launch party way back in November, and who just bowled us over with her spring '12 line.
The Pakistan-born designer has roots (and a design studio) in Maryland and is currently based in New York, but as a self-described nomad, she brings global flourishes to her work, incorporating embroidery techniques from South Asia, lush fabrics from East Asia, and couture design touches from Europe. "The inspiration for [the] collection was taken from a recent trip to the Middle East," Anwar says. "I was really inspired by the beautiful colors, textures, and embroideries of the region. I borrowed details from the culture and modernized them. I incorporated rich ethnic embroideries on modern silhouettes, which contrast yet complement the two worlds."
Personally, we can't stop daydreaming about the gorgeousness in this collection — the rich emerald and ochre hues, the perfect lace detailing, the forward-thinking silhouettes — it's everything we want to be wearing rightthisminute. Treasury Releases A Spring Lookbook In Polaroids; We Swoon
A clever lookbook can work wonders when it comes to getting us pumped for spring days — never mind that the weather has made it impossible to get dressed lately. To herald the oncoming warmth (and by warmth, we mean those two-showers-a-day stretches in July), 14th Street vintage boutique Treasury just debuted a sweet new lookbook.
In this summery scenario, three lovely models laze around on an antique carpet (which we want to steal) in perfect picnic outfits (which we also want to steal). Suddenly, we're inspired to take a long, leisurely lunch outside. Click through to see the full lookbook, captured in dreamy Polaroid images.

A Wes Anderson-Inspired Lookbook? Yes, Please!
Confession: We have a big artsy-nerd crush on Wes Anderson, so when we heard that Richmond-based retailer Need Supply Co.'s spring lookbook took inspiration from the director, we were more than a little intrigued.
The storyline: A Royal Tenenbaums-esque brother-and-sister duo compete in an old-fashioned sporting challenge, dressed in the shop's best spring wares. Their athletic pursuits are documented by a photographer and a TV reporter, and there's a fully in-character coach in the mix, too. Click through to see our favorite snaps from the oh-so-clever shoot, and you can watch the accompanying (hilarious) video here. Now this is what we call a screen gem.

Stumped By The "Creative Cocktail" Dress Code? Not For Long...
If you've gotten a formal invite to a party lately, you know that dress codes aren't just "casual," "business," and "black tie" anymore. Oh, no — we've moved on to "creative cocktail," "festive black tie," "vintage chic," and any number of other confusing combos that you can dream up. And if you've scored tickets to the Corcoran Gallery's Artini event next week, creative cocktail is the name of the game.
This super-chic party devoted to art and booze is your chance to sport a fascinator, cover yourself in sequins, and wear your craziest pair of pumps. But, you'll want to do it right, so take notes: The stylish types over at Brightest Young Things whipped up some serious eye candy today, in the form of an editorial full of perfect, copy-ready looks, featuring new and vintage pieces from a host of local sources. (Disclaimer: Many of these pieces were provided by Butler & Claypool, co-founded by yours truly.)
Click through to check out these dreamy tableaus, featuring talented artists, styled by the site's fashion editor, and photographed inside the Corcoran. It's equal parts moody and beautiful — just the thing to pass time on your Friday lunch break. (Brightest Young Things)

Scope Our Newest Jewelry Obsession (From A Chic NY-To-D.C. Transplant)
While a lot of D.C.'s homegrown talent migrates north to New York, every now and then, design-savvy types put it in reverse and move their creative endeavors to our fair city. Such is the case with jewelry designer Jane Pope Cooper, who popped up on our radar when she moved to Washington last spring, and whose delicate, subtly earthy necklaces, earrings, and bracelets won us over instantly.
Pope Cooper designs a high-end namesake line chock-full of precious metals and covetable stones, as well as a more affordable line, called Balboa, so fans can get their fine jewelry fix without shelling out a bundle. The designer incorporates vintage materials and found objects, and takes inspiration from her grandmother's jewelry collection — so you can expect plenty of charms, tasteful cuffs, and elegant drop earrings. She's got some red-carpet cred, too, with Natalie Portman and Debra Messing numbering among her clientele. Personally, we're smitten with the natural-stone pendants, the sweet-but-not-too-sweet charm necklaces, and the simple rings that mimic natural, organic shapes. We've picked out our favorite pieces from her two collections — click through to get acquainted with the best new baubles in town!
Another Balmy Winter Day, Another Set Of Gorgeous Spring Dresses
Last month, we shared an early peek at Annapolis-based line Kalivoda's spring collection with you, and now, we've turned up the complete lookbook. In honor of today's incredible weather — seriously, it's blissful out there — click through to check out the rest of designer Lacey Wheatley's dreamy, ethereal frocks. We spotted lots of asymmetrical hemlines (hello, major spring trend!), light-as-air textures, and gorgeous, ethereal styling. If this doesn't make you want to shed a layer or two, we don't know what will.
Kalivoda's Lookbook Makes Us Wish For Spring Already
We're always pumped to discover homegrown talent right in our own backyard, and when we came across Annapolis-based line Kalivoda, we were smitten with the dreamy dresses and earthy-chic separates. Designer Lacey Wheatley says her inspiration comes from surfing, hiking in the woods, old books and images, traveling, and dreams, and she manages to touch on all those aspects through silhouettes that evoke wood nymphs and earth goddesses. These floaty, femme dresses are perfect for balmy spring days filled with lazy picnics and afternoon daydreaming — don't you agree? Click through for a preview, and if you're in the Annapolis area, you can catch the designer's pop-up sample sale at local boutique Vivo today through December 30.

Two Amazing Vintage Lookbooks In One Week? It Really Is Christmas!
Maybe we're a little biased — we admit it! — but we're head-over-heels in love with the way D.C. does vintage. We've got style crushes on in-the-know ladies who can pull off head-to-toe vintage and we've scoured every secondhand shop in the DMV to find the best pre-loved baubles. But what really makes our hearts go pitter-patter is when local fashion folks dial up their style status and create inspiring lookbooks to showcase their fabulous finds.
We served up one helping already this week; ready for seconds? Then check out this set of gorgeous images from La Belle Vie Vintage, shot on H Street NE and spotlighting some covetable secondhand threads from the blog's online store. Consider it a present you get to open early this year.
