Who she is: Katie Lucas, style associate at Bishop Boutique (815B King Street, Alexandria; 571-312-0042)

How did you get the job?
"I’ve lived in Alexandria all my life, and [while] home from college this summer, I stumbled upon Bishop and fell in love with the fun, glam style of the shoes and accessories, and the store itself. I felt I'd walked into the closet of a Hollywood starlet, and so I eagerly left all my information at the front desk. Kelly, the owner, called me back for an interview a few weeks after that, and I have been playing dress-up with the fashionable ladies of D.C. ever since!"

Describe your personal style.
"Classic with a twist. I buy a lot of versatile, simple pieces, but pair them with real eye-catching pieces in different prints, colors, and textures. Right now, I am inspired by a recent trip to Belize, and am obsessed with bright woven patterns, turquoise and coral accents, and experimenting with color blocking."
