Versace is not about understated luxury; it’s sexy and bold, and unapologetic about it. True, a few moments have made us all, “I need that in my everyday life,” and creative director Donatella Versace made us stop in our tracks with the label’s resort 2016 show for that exact reason. The Italian designer managed to take some of history’s fugliest former trends, cast some sort of spell on them, and totally freak us out — in the best way possible.
Holdover '90s styles have been “back” for a while now, and maybe even exhaustively so, but they’ve been mostly of the Beverly Hills 90210 and Saved by the Bell (Hi, Kellys!) variety, not the dark, buried, locked-in-our-diaries memories we’re falling in love with here.
