Bugging Out: Insectoid Accessories

When we spy creepy crawlies, the first instinct is usually to stomp or smash. But if you look at them up close (but not too close), there's a certain beauty to these little wonders (but not roaches—that's a bridge too far). While these little jaspers may raid our picnics or loom in the dark corners of our homes, it turns out they make for great accessories.

At the top of our list, the brand-new Vagabond Picnic by Jezebel's six-legged baubles (above), a favorite over at The Cut and our offices, make normally cringe-inducing fighting ants appear—dare we say?—cute and charming. Yes we do. Paired with Miki Tanka's oversized beetle necklace, they would make perhaps the ultimate pro-arthropods statement.

Far from groodie, Disaya's bejeweled spiders are perfect for a touch of sophisticated goth flare.

If you're hunting for beautiful objects d'bug, cast a net on Insect Lab's clockwork beetles and dragonflies—with shades of The Golden Compass are as much Industrial Revolution as they are back to nature.

Finally, if you want to go all out, match Mouton Collet's Art-Deco necklaces with Miu Miu's bejeweled spider sandals on for size (just try not to squash anyone). Trust us, you'll be dying to have these guys swarming all over you.
