Tucker’s Resort Lookbook Goes Awkward-Chic

Here's the thing: With the likes of Zooey Deschanel and Lena Dunham dominating our telly time, it seems it's now the cool thing to be the awkward quirky girl, so it's only natural that the fashion industry would respond.
Enter our go-to prints favorite, Tucker. Gaby Basora heard the cries of the eclectic and gave us her resort '12 collection. The lookbook is chock full of the familiar florals and abstracts we've come to expect from the line, but introduces some new prints, too — like doggies and female faces. Bringing us back to the '60s, Tucker has us swooning over turbans, high-waisted shorts, midi-skirts, and repurposed baseball tees — all of which she's convinced us we can actually wear. And with several beach-inspired patterns like Brighton Bell and White Sand Miles, we found ourselves mentally pairing some sunnies to go with our favorite pieces. Have we found our fashion primer?
Observe our heroine, the model who may or may not have crashed Lauren Moffatt's backyard party. Notice how she is photographed just before she's about to strike the perfect pose. See how she tries to sneak in a dye job halfway through. And most importantly, note that she attempts to Jolie (ahem, the leg moment) but ends up with dinosaur arms instead. Girl, we know.... but it works, somehow.
Are those pajamas made into a jumpsuit for maximum comfort? Is that a pair of wedges that won't make us look like Amazons? Where did the model's makeup disappear to? If Tucker's signature is "Every piece tells a story," then this lookbook gives us one heck of a plot. Check out the collection from our local legend.
