Ring Your Neck: Collar Necklaces Have Us All Wrapped Up

Adorning the necks of yesteryear's dancing queens (think Bianca Jagger), the collar necklace is making a comeback and touching down on some stylish clavicles along the way. Showing up on the Spring '09 runways of Gucci and Marni, collar necklaces are all about making the boldest of statements in the smallest of spaces. Try pairing 3.1 Phillip Lim's leather gem encrusted neck piece with a simple tee or affix Fallon's bejeweled Krystle collar to an already glammed out ensemble for dramatic results. Superfertile's "Hunger" brocade necklaces rope us into a good cause and finish off our look, all at once. It seems we have to admit that collar necklaces have us caught up in a chokehold of a trend that we have no plans of escaping from.
Top, clockwise from left: A necklace from Super Fertile's spring/summer '09 collection; Tuleste Market Solid Petal Necklace, $60, available at Shop Bop; 3.1 Phillip Lim leather gem neck piece, $425, available at Net-A-Porter; Chanel Black Glossy Resin Crescent Collar, $1,196, available at Bluefly; Viktoria Hayman Chunky short necklace, $135, available at Blue Fly.

Above, clockwise from left: Fallon Krystle Collar Necklace, $385, available at Barneys New York; Herve van der Straeten Two Circle Necklace, $275, available at Vivre; Fallon Sammy Jo Silver collar, $199, available at Barneys New York; Kenneth Jay Lane pave collar necklace, $165, available at Shopbop.
