On the Edge: Fringe Shows Up On and Around the Runways

fringe1001.jpgFringe—we thought we knew ye. After a full summer of seeing you adorn hipster moccasin booties and gladiators alike "Western style", we thought we had you figured out. But this Fashion Week showed us a whole new side of you—a side we're quickly taking a liking to. Just today, The Cut confirmed that you're hot hot hot on the Milan runways, as Raf Simons worked you into his Jil Sander creations and took our breath away. It's no surprise to us that Fashion Fringe (how appropriate) competition winner Go By A Secret Path used—you guessed it—feathery accoutrement in its latest collection. Also, turning our attention down south, we spotted this amazing, simple look from New Zealand designer Twentysevennames (pictured), which uses "flapper fringe" as a lovely, subtle embellishment on a casual outfit. Sigh—we're smitten. (NYMag)
