Knotty By Nature: DIY Twists Hit the Streets in Style

Oh, how we love trends that aren't about buying, and, instead, show off some clever self-styling tips. Let's face it: These days, we have to work with what we've got! While the oversized, side-knotted T-shirt was one of the staples of the late '80s, we've been seeing a new flock of do-it-yourself twists on the streets. This time the silhouette is less of a baggy tee and leggings, and more subtle experiments in draping and layering. Try tightening a tee to a crop-top length, or the hem of a dress for a makeshift side-slit. Tied up or down, loose or tight, artistically or clipped, a little knot will surely give your hum-drum winter layers a little twist and shout. This look has been making its mark in Northern Europe—see some of the examples we've scouted in Stockholm, Gothenburg, Oslo, Kessel, and Copenhagen.
