A distinctive array of young American designers

The boudoir-style décor

Unique cuts, luxury materials, and rich prints you won't see elsewhere

Don't be surprised if you're suddenly swept up by the old-world charm of Mick Margo. Located on a sleepy West Village street, the boudoir-style boutique opened in 2005 and bears the name of young owner Nadine Ferber's grandfather, a man remembered for his coattails, tophat, and lively demeanor. The elegance and character that defined Mr. Margo has been seamlessly translated in the sophisticated, comfortable décor and the carefully selected collection of pieces that wear the title "modern classics" with ease. A browse through the racks reveals a formidable array of distinctive international and young American designers.

Thanks to the roving, inspired eye of Ferber, the selection here is always changing, names like Alexander Wang, Araks, Vena Cava, Maria Bonita Extra, and Bodas appear frequently. The pieces you find, however, don't. Making the first criteria for her selections about unique cuts, luxury materials, and rich prints and colors, Ferber is also careful to choose gems that won't pop up in every boutique. Describing her tailored but feminine picks as "items that our friends will wish they had found first," Ferber works to augment the most discerning shopper's wardrobe with understated style. The result? On any given day, a visit to the tree-lined street becomes an almost idyllic affair—a chance to be charmed by the femme-chic collection and the debonair spirit of a certain Mr. Margo.
