If you're a gent in the market for sophisticated vintage finds (no tatty, second-hand duds for you), venture over the bridge to what could be deemed the most enviable resource in the city. Capitalizing on the Italian "aversion" to anything but the latest fashion collections, owners Marco and Patti continuously strike gold on regular buying trips to their homeland each year, and brilliantly showcase their superb loot at their Williamsburg branch.
A choice supply of '70s Burberry windbreakers line the racks along with an extensive range of Giorgio Armani, Gucci, and Yves Saint Laurent shirts and jackets. Other gems include an outstanding assemblage of '60s leather motorcycle jackets, never-before-worn '70s converse-look-alike sneakers crafted by the Italian military as well as '70s German military gym shoes (think a varsity variation of Van's). Note to the fastidious: Every jacket, sweater, trouser, and suit is painstakingly dry-cleaned by a specialist in Coney Island while shoes also make it through a rigorous cleaning process. |
