Side-Zip Booties Are Your Security Gate Friends — When you're juggling three plastic bins, trying to fit your laptop back into your bag, and hoping that your boarding pass is in your back pocket (and not behind the metal detector), you don't want to deal with a shoe that's got anything more complicated than a simple zip. We realize there are plenty of ballet-flat travel fans out there, but we're partial to boots — with chilly plane temps, grungy airport floors, and possible terminal-to-terminal sprints, we like a heavier shoe to protect our toes.
