The Best Sheer Tights For Transitional-Weather Dressing

“In like a lion, out like a lamb” couldn’t be a more
perceptive idiom for March. When the month starts, it’s still winter; by the end, spring has sprung. Basically, there's nothing we trust less than the weather right now. One day, you’re sure you’re going to freeze your butt off (even while wearing your most padded puffer); the next, you’re overheating from too many layers. So, tights or no tights? That is the question on many a hosiery-lover's mind. While thick, opaque styles are starting to feel too heavy, we’re not quite ready to brave the elements with bare ankles. The remedy for this conundrum: sheer stockings. As the temperatures begin to climb, a lightweight option will help make the transition to spring a smooth one. Ahead, we're sharing six see-through styles (complete with Swiss dots, back seams, and fishnets) for you to shop — and pair under all of your spring skirts and dresses.

The Swiss Dot
Classic, sheer tights are great on their own; an allover Swiss dot pattern adds a quirky touch.

The Fishnet
Wear very fine fishnet tights (our favorites are from Wolford and Commando) with prim pencil skirts and pleated hems for instant edge.
The Classic
Classics are classic for a reason. Thick, opaque tights may rule in the dead of winter, but the onset of spring is all about semi-sheer shades.
The Control Top
If you're looking for a little extra support for your midsection (or just like the way control tops feel), there are plenty of non-opaque options to shop.
The Ribbed
Like swiss dots, ribbed tights add tons of visual interest to your lower half. Vertical stripes that run the length of your leg work well with printed dresses; they also embody a more professional vibe, perfect for corporate workplaces.
The Back Seam
Business in the front, party in the back: Back-seamed stockings are a trendy '20s throwback that accentuate your legs.
