Leave it to the authority on Americana, Thom Dolan, to style New Balance sneakers with a relaxed trouser and still produce a look that's sexy, smart, and totally crush-worthy. Dolan's fall '12 lookbook had us at contrasting collars and "grandfather" suits, but we stayed and swooned over the cool v-neck jumpers, print-on-print pairing, and backwards cardigans (because, why wouldn't we?).
Roll-collar shirts, flannel shorts, and wool pencil skirts have never been sexier than in this school-themed lookbook where skin is sparse and layered knits reign supreme. Dolan's clever tricks for the effortless grampa's girl-on-campus range from pairing an elongated sweater with bare legs to tying a thin leather strip loosely around the waist of a buttoned-all-the-way-up plaid wool shirtdress. Beyond the New England prep school that we imagine the LB location to be, we could definitely see these suits sauntering the streets and countryside alike (as well as, like, our jobs, apartments, friends' apartments, all our local restaurants, and everywhere else in between).
