5 Things To Do This Week In Miami

thisweek_furormoda
Miami, this last week. Can we all get an "ugh"? It was the worst, but it seems that the rain has passed (and least for now) and there is no better way to nurse your post Cinco De Mayo hangover than plan a killer week, and you know we've got just the itinerary for you!

The Misfits Presented By Miami Beach Film Society

One of the grittier, sexier movies of the early '60s (and helps bridge the gap between '50s and '60s cinema), The Misfits stars John Huston, Marilyn Monroe, and Clark Gable, this Arthur Miller-written film (who was Monroe's husband) portrays a bubbly Monroe next to a hard-edged Gable — and has the added drama of being the last completed film of both.

When: Tuesday, May 8, 8:15 p.m.

Where: Miami Beach Cinematheque, at Historic City Hall, 1130 Washington Avenue. $10.

Iggy Azalea At Liv

Quickly rising as one of the best party emcees in the country, this young Aussie serves some serious sass, and will certainly be in demand as the year goes on. Not only are her tunes pretty great jams, but she also sports some pretty sweet style, too.

When: Wednesday, May 9, 11 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Where: Liv, 4441 Collins Avenue; 305-674-4680. $40.

Mother's Day at NailBar & Beauty Lounge

Moms and their precious little divas can go and get their manis and pedis done this weekend to celebrate Mother's Day at one of our favorite nail salons, NailBar. Moms and daughters and proud moms who show off pics of their kids will receive 15% off their services, or gals under the age of 12 will get a complimentary manicure. Cute!

When: Saturday, May 12th, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday, May 13th, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Where: NailBar & Beauty Lounge , 3301 NE 1st Avenue, Midtown 4; 305-514-0305

RAW Miami at The Stage

Over 20 artists will descend on the Design District to celebrate the multi-disciplined RAW debut in Miami, but the part of the night we are most interested in is Furor Moda's fashion show. Not only will the locally based line have its totally wearable bascis line, but it'll be modeled by local Miami bloggers, too!

When: Wednesday, May 9, 8 p.m. to 12 a.m.
Where: The Stage, 170 NE 38th Street. $10 presale, $15 at the door.

Shark At Museum Of Art

Sharks. They are terrifying, but they are also totally alluring, which is the idea behind curator Richard Ellis' exhibit which focuses solely on the hunter of the sea. Shark-related activities include a sneak peak for NSU students, a Shark family day, and an opening party for Shark aficionados. Just don't watch Jaws first.
When: Previews start Thursday, May 10, with the opening party at 6 p.m., Saturday, May 12.

Where:Museum of Art, Museum of Art in Fort Lauderdale, One East Las Olas Boulevard,
Fort Lauderdale; 954-525-5500.
