Heavy Metal or Hard Rock?: La Pisette's Multi-Faceted Rings

la-pisette.jpg

When we were young we all had our little hobbies and collections (e.g. comics, Bryer horses, Pogs). Only a few of us turned these pastimes turn into full-time jobs. For Stacy Saunders—designer of jewelry line La Pisette— who started collecting rocks at 10, the search for the perfect geode became the foundation of her latest jewelry line.

A collection of cocktail rings, La Pisette uses both rough and faceted gemstones of varying finishes, shapes, and sizes, encircling them in gold twine. Normally, Saunders makes her stunning rings to order—like stones, no two are alike. But for her latest endeavor, the matte-silver Form One ring, she's created a mold from found gemstones that can be used for larger production. Blending free-form shapes with a dramatic structured base, this piece is an artful take on Saunders' other, more natural gems. Saunders plans to release a new Form ring every month or two based these simple design principles. If she had a ring-of-the-month club, we'd be first in line. For now, we'll just have to be happy adding this single stone to our collection.
