Peace Corps.: Pade Vavra's Disarming Charms

padebig.jpg

When we close our eyes and think of peace, we picture a pimped-out John Lennon singing "Imagine" in a field of gold-plated daisies and wearing a couple of these gun-toting necklaces. Granted, we're a little odd. Still, these pieces, designed by Los Angeles designer Pade Vavra as part of her new Peace, Love, & Pade collection, send a powerful message through a glittery, tongue-in-cheek medium.

The brooches and necklaces, luxe counterparts to those miniature toy soldiers, wield precious stone-studded flowers and peace signs on their gun barrels. It's a slight difference from G.I. Joe, but an important one. We'd like to think that a platoon of these armed necklaces might be enough to inspire even the hardest neo-con to spread world peace, but Vavra is is one marching step ahead: Ten percent of the profits are donated to UNICEF, so not buying one really means you hate children. You don't hate children, do you?

The Peace, Love and Pade collection will be available at www.shoppadevavra.com starting tomorrow. For more information go to www.padevavra.com.
