Party Time: Confettisystem Does a Pinata Good

Remember the birthdays of your childhood years, when cake, pinatas, and games were the formula for a perfect party? That might not be quite what you get when you turn up at your friends' bashes these days, but the designers behind Confettisystem are trying to bring that good old-fashioned fun back to your celebrations (and your everyday look).

Pals Julie Ho, Nick Andersen, and Karlo Bello enjoyed decorating their friends' parties so much, they decided to create party goods of their own. Says Ho, "We decided to create a line of supplies that would really transform a party…a pinata that you could not only use and destroy but also hang in your room to keep, and a blindfold beautiful enough to wear as jewelry."
Taking classic celebration staples and putting a stylish spin on them, the completely handmade line is a mix of jewelry pieces and party supplies inspired by, among other things, "plastic bags, hippies in Kauai, wish trees, and lei-making." Along with their pretty pastel knotted necklaces and glittery party banners, the design team offers up colorful confetti, as well as metallic silk and leather blindfolds for pinata bashing. Their custom diamond-shaped pinatas, fringed with delicate colored paper and filled with brilliant confetti, candy, and curly ribbons, are the most eye-catching pieces in this collection of grown-up party goods. Who wouldn't want one of these beauties hanging from the rafters at their next birthday celebration? Unfortunately, we think they just might be too pretty to ever bash with a bat.
Confettisystem necklaces, $200, are available at Opening Ceremony, 35 Howard Street, New York; 212-219-2688; www.openingceremony.us For more information and pricing for custom pinatas, go to www.confettisystem.com.
