Szeki Jewelry: Local Girl Does Good

szeki-jewelry-black.jpg

Independent LES boutiques, cute as they may be, often come and go. Not so with the cozy enclave Szeki. Jewelry designer, and the shop's owner, CK Chan, grew up on the LES and has always sold her delicate creations locally. In fact, CK used to sell her jewelry from a table in front of her current shop. As a sidewalk vendor, she became a neighborhood fixture. Then, when she finally bought her store, CK's neighbors pitched in with antique and found furnishings to help create the shop's charming décor. The local feel translates into CK's jewelry as well, as she often integrates found items, or bits 'n bobs attained through family and neighborhood friends. It's the kind of idyllic local business that negates the crafty hood's ominous American Apparelization.

Szeki is located at 16 Clinton Street, szekijewelry.myshopify.com
