How to Wear Socks and Sandals Without Looking Like a Dweeb

We asked back in April whether you all were on board with the elementary school favorite, socks and sandals. After all, one misstep can land you straight in Dad-At-Disneyland territory. So to help you navigate the tricky trend, we've compiled some helpful tips and options on doing the look right.

Socks look best in thin, rich materials with unorthodox colors and patterns. Also, make sure your sandals tread on the chunky side lest one mistake you for wearing your bedroom slippers outdoors. Pair a sweet swiss dot with a pair of tough clunkers, or mimic the preppy stripe on an ankle sock with the thick straps on some wedges. Whether they're knee-high or of the bobby variety, socks are an easy way to add some flair (and comfort!) to your tired shoes.
