Get Well Soon: Footwear by Gwendolyn Huskens

bandage1031.jpg
"Medic aesthetic" is usually thought of as scrubs, stethoscopes, and lab coats. Right? Not according to Gwendolyn Huskens, a graduate of the forward-thinking Design Academy Eidhoven. As seen on Designboom, Huskens brings the pharmacy to you with her truly unusual footwear, made of medical materials like bandages, plaster, and band-aids. The neutral palette and healing-helping textures are an innovative, if disorienting, take on where the borders of fashion and orthopedics should be drawn. You might have to chime: "NO, don't sign my cast, that's just my shoe!" every once in a while. (Designboom)
